Fumio Demura, 5th Dan began his martial arts training during his grammar school years, studying kendo to build up his strength and improve his health. Concurrently, he developed a keen interest -in all martial arts, including the use of weapons such as the bo, the sai, the tonfa, the kama and the nunchaku. These weaponry techniques he studied while under the tutelage of Mr. Kenshin Taira and Mr. Ryusho Sakagami. Noted in Japan as an outstanding karateka, Mr. Demura has been honored by martial artists and government officials such as the Minister of Education.
